Collect and destroy the borer infested fruits along with borer.
Spray HaNPV@ 100 LE/acre mixed with 200 liters of water during evening hours at 28, 35 and 42 days after transplanting. Mix 1% jaggery and 0.5 ml/l sticker before spray.
or
spray Indoxacarb 14.5 SC (1.0 ml/l) or Thiodicarb 75WP (1.0 g/l) or Enamectin benzoate 5% SG (0.4 g/l) or any other effective insecticide or botanicals or bio-pesticide registered for tomato fruit borer with Central Insecticide Board.
Remove leaf miner infested leaves at the time of planting. Further it is advised to remove infested leaves from bottom to a height of 6-8 inches, after the plants have attained about 4-5 feet height. Avoid spray of any synthetic insecticides as this may increase leaf miner infestation due to resistance development. If at all any spray is to be given for leaf miner, spray only neem products.
Spray Imidacloprid 17.8 SL (0.3 ml/l) or Thiamethoxam 25 WP (0.3 g/l) or Fipronil ( 1.0 ml/l) in nursery after 15 days of sowing and drench the portrays with Imidacloprid 17.8 SL (0.3 ml/l) or Thiamethoxam 25 WP (0.3 g/l) one day before transplanting.
Repeat spraying of the above insecticides or Acephate (1.5 g/l) at 15 and 30 days after transplanting.
Spray PNSPE (4%) or neem/ pongamia soap ( 8-10 g/l) or Dicofol 18.5 EC (2 ml/l) or Dinocap (1.0 ml/l) or Diofenthium (2.0 ml/l) or Abamectin 1.9 EC (0.5 ml/l) or Fenazaquin 10% EC (1.0 ml/l) or Spiromesifen 22.9% w/w (1.0 ml/l)
Nursery :
Raise Marigold (Tall African variety golden age bearing yellow and orange flowers) nursery 15-20 days before start of tomato nursery
One week after germination of tomato seedlings spray imidacloprid 200 SL @ 0.3 ml/l or thiamethoxam 25 WP @ 0.3 g/l
Apply Neem cake 250 kg/ha at the time of land preparation
Dip the roots of seedlings (do not dip the foliage as it may cause burning of leaves) or spray pro-treys having tomato seedlings with imidacloprid 200 SL @ 0.3 ml/l or thiamethoxam 25 WP @ 0.3 g/l for 5 minutes.
Transplant 20-25 day old tomato and 45-50 day old marigold seedlings simultaneously in a pattern of one row of marigold for every 16 rows of tomato. However, the first and last row of the plots should be of marigold. Simultaneous flowering of both the crops ensures attraction of fruit borers to marigold flowers
Spray with NPV @ 250 LE/ha along with jaggery @ 20 g/l at 10 days interval
Before planting tomato seedlings remove leaf miner infested leaves.
Destroy leaf miner infested leaves 3-4 times after transplanting at weekly intervals to minimize leaf miner incidence
Fifteen days after planting spray imidacloprid 200 SL @ 0.4ml/l or thiamethoxam 25 WP @ 0.3g/l for managing leaf curl vector (whitefly)
Apply neem cake @ 250 kg/ha to ridges at 20-25 DAP (at flowering) to reduce fruit borer and leaf miner incidence
Spray Ha NPV @250 LE/ha with 1% jaggery as sunscreen at 28, 35 and 42 DAP in the evening
Apply Neem soap @ 10 g/L @ weekly intervals from the period incidence of leaf miner is noticed. If the population build up is high at the most, a single need based, spray of Triazophos 40 EC @ 1ml/l mixed with neem soap @ 10 g/L may be given.
If red spider mite incidence is noticed, spray Neem soap 1 % or neem oil 1% mixed with synthetic acaricide like dicofol 18.5 EC (2.5 ml/l), wettable sulphur 80 WP (3 g/l) etc. Spray lower surface of the leaves where mites are generally found. Avoid using wettable sulphur if the temperature is high. Application of Pongamia oil @ 0.2 % (emulsified with sticker @ 1 ml/L) may also be employed
Mechanical collection and destruction of bored fruits at periodic interval (3-4 times after fruit set) to minimize fruit borer incidence to the minimum
Destroy leaf curl and other virus-affected plants as soon as the symptoms appear in a few plants to minimize their spread
